OECD: AI investments offset the impact of energy shocks in the Middle East

Sep 23, 2026 16:20:45

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) stated that investments driven by artificial intelligence have helped the global economy perform slightly better than expected this year, but the impact of commodity price shocks caused by conflicts in the Middle East is expected to weigh on economic growth momentum in 2027.

The OECD predicts that the global economic growth rate will rise to 3%, down from the 3.1% forecast in June. AI infrastructure spending has become an important pillar supporting economic resilience, but the global outlook remains affected by factors such as fluctuations in the energy market.
