Iranian media reported that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was attacked on the night of March 27, with no damage to the plant detected and no casualties reported. The report noted that the nuclear power plant is operational and stores a large amount of radioactive material, and an attack on it could trigger a serious nuclear accident. The attacks by the United States and Israel on facilities for the peaceful use of nuclear energy violate international law and pose a serious security threat to the region.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released a statement late on the 27th, saying it received reports from Iran that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was attacked again that day, marking the third attack on the plant within ten days. The Iranian report also stated that the operational reactor was not damaged and there was no radiation leak. The IAEA stated that its Director General Grossi called on all parties to exercise maximum military restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.
