According to market news, the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed adjusting the frequency of information disclosure based on the size of the company. The regulatory agency is currently evaluating modifications to the financial reporting disclosure requirements.

Since Trump called last year for changing the frequency of corporate financial reporting from quarterly to semi-annually, the SEC has been advancing related reforms. SEC Chairman Gensler previously promised to expedite this potential proposal and stated that the adjustment could save companies a significant amount of time and costs. Before publicly releasing a request for comments, the SEC must first submit the draft proposal for review by the White House. Historically, it takes the SEC about 18 months on average from proposal to final implementation of rules.
