Moltbook has been acquired. Where is the singularity of AI + Crypto?

In the past couple of days, the event that has stirred waves in both the AI ecosystem and the crypto ecosystem is undoubtedly Meta's acquisition of Moltbook.
When Moltbook launched in January, it truly made a splash. It created a proprietary application for AI Agents, pioneering a new ecosystem. Subsequently, a plethora of proprietary applications surrounding AI Agents emerged inspired by it.
As a result, it received high praise from many in the tech community, including the founder of OpenClaw, right from its launch.
This is the ripple effect Moltbook has caused in the AI ecosystem.
In the crypto ecosystem, its biggest "contribution" has been the birth of a large number of new crypto assets, giving many people another opportunity to revel around these crypto assets for a while.
But frankly speaking, the significance of these crypto assets is very limited; the vast majority of token economics are basically the same old playbook:
After the application makes money, it uses the profits to buy back and burn tokens.
Aside from that, there seems to be no other more innovative plays.
This application was popular for a while, but then gradually cooled down, and it is rarely discussed now. However, I still occasionally keep an eye on Moltbook and the applications that have emerged around it, hoping to see if they have developed new gameplay—deep down, I still hold great expectations that one of them can grow into a sustainable ecosystem.
If we can somewhat consider Moltbook as an application that combines AI and Crypto, we have seen quite a few such applications that were once extremely popular over the past few years. Unfortunately, each of these applications has almost always made a stunning entrance but quietly exited.
When they appeared, we could all see their innovations and uniqueness, but after a brief period of popularity, they all cooled down, unable to maintain their heat and continue to grow.
This regret always makes me curious: does AI + Crypto still lack a singularity? Where exactly is this singularity? In what field?
After Meta's acquisition of Moltbook, some people online mocked:
This is Zuckerberg in a panic, throwing money around without direction, buying randomly.
In response, Meta explained that it acquired Moltbook because it valued the foundational framework for AI Agents that it has built.
This explanation sounds quite logical; it resembles a natural extension of Facebook's genes and business thinking—Meta started with social networking, and Facebook is a network based on human social interactions. Now that we have AI Agents, it is only natural that AI Agents also need a social network, and Moltbook happens to be a core element that fills this gap.
From this acquisition, I am more inclined to read another trend:
Previously, our applications were developed around human needs; now, our applications will likely need to be developed around the needs of AI Agents.
In the future, applications specifically targeting AI Agents may represent a larger wave of applications.
However, for applications aimed at AI Agents, what methods and scenarios are the most suitable?
We will likely encounter many pitfalls in this regard. Because we have always been accustomed to building applications using human thinking—we are the users ourselves. But what applications AI Agents need must be considered from the perspective of AI Agents, and we may not yet be adapted to that new way of thinking.
After the news of Meta's acquisition broke, the tokens of Moltbook and another project previously created by its project leader experienced a short-term surge.
In my view, this surge is not very significant, and there is nothing particularly noteworthy for the crypto ecosystem. I believe that a truly integrated AI + Crypto application should not only have short-term effects but should also generate a closed-loop, sustainable model that can develop over the long term and create commercial value.
