Bitcoin has mined 19,997,001.16 coins, leaving approximately 3,000 coins until the 20 million milestone, which is expected to be reached in 7 days at the current production rate. This means that 95% of Bitcoin's fixed total supply of 21 million coins has entered circulation, with the remaining 1 million coins to be gradually mined over the next century.
Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, hardcoded the total supply cap of 21 million coins into the protocol. With the halving mechanism occurring every four years, the Bitcoin inflation rate has dropped below 1%, with approximately 450 coins mined daily. At this rate, 99% of the supply will be mined by January 2035, and the last whole Bitcoin is expected to be mined in 2105, with final mining continuing until around 2140.
