The Spanish Red Cross launches a blockchain-based aid system RedChain

The Spanish Red Cross has launched a blockchain aid distribution system called RedChain. This system is technically supported by BLOOCK and Billions Network, and aims to manage the entire process of aid from donation to distribution in a digital manner.

RedChain uses ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain to replace paper vouchers and prepaid cards, allowing beneficiaries to make payments at partner merchants using QR codes through a mobile wallet. Beneficiaries' identity information and case records are stored in the off-chain system of the Spanish Red Cross, while the public blockchain is only used to verify transaction hashes, timestamps, and integrity proofs, ensuring transparency in the flow of donated funds while protecting the privacy of beneficiaries.
