According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump delivered a keynote speech at the annual gala of the Alpha Alpha Club on Saturday night, where he mockingly teased the attendees during a closed-door event.
According to those present, Trump told the business leaders and Washington elites that he chose Walsh because he "looks like he walked out of a movie." He stated that if Walsh does not lower interest rates after being elected, he will sue Walsh.
However, later on Air Force One, when asked about these remarks, Trump said it was just a joke. He did not receive any commitment regarding the nomination from Walsh. "I could do that if I wanted to, but I didn't."
It is reported that Trump had previously expressed concerns that a candidate for Federal Reserve Chairman might "betray him" after being elected.
