Three Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives have sent a letter to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, requesting an explanation regarding the SEC's suspension of the enforcement case against TRON founder Justin Sun.
Representatives Maxine Waters, Brad Sherman, and Sean Casten stated that the prolonged delay of the case could undermine investor confidence in the independence and credibility of regulatory agencies. The lawmakers pointed out that the SEC has recently initiated or advanced the suspension or withdrawal of multiple crypto-related enforcement cases, including those involving Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken, questioning the agency's enforcement priorities and effectiveness. In the case of Justin Sun, the SEC had requested a court to pause the litigation in February of this year to seek a potential resolution, which has now lasted for about 11 months. The lawmakers also mentioned the token trading situation involving Justin Sun and World Liberty Financial, demanding that the SEC preserve and provide all documents and communications related to the suspension of the case. The SEC has not yet publicly responded to the inquiries mentioned above.
