Some netizens reported that their family members encountered a scam impersonating the official website of the "Hong Kong Stock Exchange." After depositing money, they initially succeeded in withdrawing funds four times, each time for one hundred yuan. Subsequently, the system prompted that taxes needed to be paid in order to continue withdrawing; failure to pay taxes on time would result in account freezing. They have now chosen to report to the police.
After verification, The Paper found that the webpage is currently inaccessible. In response to such impersonation scams, the official website of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has issued a warning announcement. Currently, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has identified over 400 suspicious websites, but the counterfeit webpage named "Hong Kong Stablecoin Exchange (HSEX)" is still accessible. Its page design is highly similar to that of legitimate trading platforms, displaying fluctuations in cryptocurrency and virtual currency prices, and it includes functions for depositing and withdrawing funds.
