Trump praises Waller as "great" and specifically commends Bowman, the mystery of the new Fed chair will be revealed in a few weeks

Trump praised several candidates for the Federal Reserve chair on Thursday. When asked about Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller, he mentioned that the two met again on Wednesday and described him as "great."

Trump also praised the Fed's Vice Chair for Supervision, Michelle Bowman, but did not explicitly confirm whether she is among the final candidates. Trump stated that he is interviewing "three to four" candidates for the Fed chair position and expects to decide "soon" who will be nominated to succeed Powell. "I think each of them would be a good choice. But I'm not sure if the announcement will be made by the end of this year, but a decision will be made in the coming weeks."

In an interview last week, Trump hinted that National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett and former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh are the main contenders. At that time, he said, "I think both Kevins are great, and there are a few others who are great too."
