According to Cointelegraph, Bhutan has signed a multi-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with cryptocurrency market maker Cumberland DRW, where both parties will collaborate on building digital asset infrastructure in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), further deepening the country's long-term cryptocurrency strategy focused on sustainable development.
This collaboration includes Cumberland supporting Bhutan's Bitcoin reserve management, establishing business points in Gelephu Mindfulness City, and hiring local talent. The market maker will also send experts in the field to train the local workforce.
According to the memorandum, Cumberland and Bhutan aim to explore the development of a national cryptocurrency ecosystem that encompasses modern financial frameworks, sustainable mining and AI computing, yield generation, and stablecoin infrastructure. This initiative is led by the digital infrastructure company Green Digital, which is responsible for ensuring that the development of digital assets aligns with Bhutan's broader sustainable development and economic diversification goals.
