Infura launches DIN AVS, introducing a decentralized RPC and API marketplace for EigenLayer
Nov 17, 2025 22:10:04
According to The Block, the decentralized infrastructure network (DIN) developed by the Infura team under Consensys will launch its Autonomous Validation Service (AVS) mainnet on EigenLayer, introducing economic security and decentralization features to a field long dominated by a few centralized RPC providers.
DIN has been integrated into MetaMask, the Ethereum Layer 2 network Linea, and Infura, processing over 13 billion requests monthly across Ethereum, multiple Layer 2 networks, and more than 20 alternative Layer 1 networks. In the AVS model, node providers are rewarded for normal operation and accurate data, while downtime or errors result in penalties.
The Infura team pointed out that relying on centralized RPC providers poses systemic risks, as service interruptions can affect wallets, dapps, and more. DIN will mitigate this issue through decentralized RPC node supply validated by independent observers and protected by stETH re-staking, with future support from ETH and EIGEN. Its key features include permissionless access and independent performance validation.
During the pilot phase, the incentivized testnet processed over 7 billion requests with a success rate exceeding 99% and a median latency of less than 250 milliseconds.
