Square launches BTC payment feature, targeting over 4 million merchants across 8 countries

Payment giant Square has launched a Bitcoin payment feature, allowing merchants to activate it at the POS terminal. Currently, it only supports offline and terminal payments, with online and invoicing features in development. The official announcement states that there will be no transaction fees until 2027, after which a fee of 1% is expected. Currently, the Square ecosystem covers 8 countries and over 4 million merchants; some users have reported experiencing this feature at coffee shops in the United States, and Cash App has simultaneously launched a global map supporting BTC merchants.
