ChainCatcher news, the UDR party led by Éric Ciotti in the French Parliament has proposed a comprehensive bill supporting cryptocurrencies. This bill presents a comprehensive cryptocurrency policy for the first time in France, mainly consisting of three core components: establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve for France, planning to hold 2% of the total Bitcoin supply (approximately 420,000 BTC) over the next 7-8 years, raising funds through public mining, asset seizure retention, and savings plan fund allocation; encouraging the development of euro stablecoins, proposing a tax exemption policy for a daily payment limit of 200 euros, and clearly opposing the EU's digital euro (CBDC) plan; supporting industry participants, including adjusting mining electricity taxes, promoting institutional investment channels, and revising European prudential rules.
Analysis indicates that although the bill demonstrates the UDR party's supportive stance towards the French cryptocurrency ecosystem, the likelihood of its passage is extremely low due to the party holding only 16 out of 577 seats in Parliament.
