ChainCatcher news, according to Global Times, Thailand's Deputy Minister of Finance, Worapak Thanyawong, has officially resigned after being accused of having connections with a telecom fraud group, becoming the first cabinet minister to resign since Prime Minister Anutin took office.

Earlier reports indicated that Worapak had ties to a foreign scammer suspected of engaging in transnational telecom fraud in Cambodia, and his wife was alleged to have obtained $3 million in cryptocurrency from a criminal network in Cambodia this year. Multiple accusations have plunged him into a public relations crisis. On the day of his resignation, Worapak explicitly denied participating in any illegal activities, stating that "resigning is to focus all my energy on legal defense," and mentioned that handling related lawsuits requires a significant amount of time, while also expressing concern that this matter could affect his responsibilities at the Ministry of Finance.
