ChainCatcher message, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) announced the establishment of a Privacy Cluster, composed of 47 top blockchain researchers, engineers, coordinators, and cryptography experts, aimed at advancing the privacy features of the Ethereum network.

The cluster is coordinated by Igor Barinov and will integrate the foundation's existing privacy R&D projects while promoting new privacy-related initiatives. The core projects of the Privacy Cluster include: Private Reads & Writes (PSE): enabling private payments, voting, and interactions, ensuring the security and low cost of browsing, querying, and authentication for users and businesses. Private Proving (PSE): achieving efficient and portable proofs to verify identity, assets, or qualifications without disclosing additional information. Private Identities (PSE): selective disclosure with the zkID project, protecting online identity privacy. Privacy Experience (PSE): optimizing the user experience of privacy protocols to make privacy features user-friendly and widespread. Institutional Privacy Task Force (IPTF): an interdisciplinary team that transforms regulatory and operational needs into privacy standards, helping institutions address practical application scenarios. Kohaku: a new privacy wallet and open-source SDK that makes strong cryptographic technologies easy to use. The Ethereum Foundation stated that privacy should be a core feature of the Ethereum ecosystem, and the foundation will collaborate with the ecosystem to create secure and usable privacy protections for individuals and institutions.
