ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, Paul Atkins, the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), stated that the SEC still plans to formally establish an innovation exemption that would allow companies to conduct business related to digital assets and other innovative technologies in the U.S. This initiative could be launched as early as the end of this quarter.
Atkins mentioned at a futures and derivatives legal report event hosted by the law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in Midtown Manhattan that despite the current U.S. government shutdown limiting the SEC's progress in rulemaking, he will continue to prioritize this exemption as a key focus for the end of the year or the first quarter of 2026.
