In the first half of the year, Singapore lost 456 million Singapore dollars due to fraud, with cryptocurrency scams accounting for 18%

ChainCatcher news, the Singapore Police Force has released data on fraud and cybercrime for the first half of 2025. The data shows that Singaporeans lost approximately 456 million SGD to fraud, a decrease of about 66 million SGD compared to last year. The number of fraud and cybercrime cases fell by 21.5% to 22,476 cases, down from 28,625 cases in the same period last year.

Losses from cryptocurrency-related fraud accounted for nearly 18% of the total losses, reaching 81.6 million SGD, primarily involving Tether, Bitcoin, and Ethereum. The Anti-Fraud Command also recovered 56.7 million SGD, including 17 million SGD in cryptocurrency, and worked with partners to avoid an additional potential loss of 179 million SGD.
