Coinbase has recruited the leadership team of the DeFi protocol Opyn

ChainCatcher news, according to Blockworks, Coinbase has recently completed a talent acquisition, specifically acquiring Opyn CEO Andrew Leone and their Head of Research Joe Clark. Leone and Clark will now join the Onchain Markets team, which operates within Coinbase's institutional organization, focusing on verified pools and other development plans centered on on-chain market products.

According to Coinbase's official statement: "The Opyn team has been dedicated to building in the DeFi space from the early days; they are the developers of the first DeFi options protocol, the inventors of Power Perpetuals, and the team behind Squeeth. This team possesses deep on-chain technical expertise, a profound understanding of traditional market structures, and practical experience in building decentralized products from the ground up, which is quite rare in the industry.

The choice of talent acquisition is due to the company's operating model of 'build/acquire/partner/invest.' Each path depends on what we believe to be the most impactful areas—whether through technology, market influence, or talent."
