Jing Chen

Details

Jing Chen is the Chief Scientist at Algorand and former Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University. Her main research interests are distributed ledgers, game theory, and algorithms. Jing received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, and her PhD in Computer Science from MIT. She did a one-year postdoc at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. Jing received the NSF CAREER Award in 2016.

Sergey Gorbunov

Sergey is an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo since 2016. He is interested in constructing cryptographic primitives, protocols, and systems that enable novel applications in untrusted and distributed settings. He obtained his Ph.D. from MIT, where he was a Microsoft Ph.D. fellow, and he earned his MSc and BSc from UToronto. His Ph.D. dissertation focused on creating cryptographic tools for the cloud using lattice-based cryptography, for which he was awarded the Sprowls Doctoral Thesis Award for the best thesis in CS at MIT. He was part of the founding team of Algorand, where he was involved in various business and technical aspects of the company, and he headed the cryptography group. Additionally, he spent some time at IBM T.J. Watson Research Centre.

Georgios Vlachos

Georgios Vlachos is Co-Founder of Axelar, Founding Team Member of Algorand; responsible for designing and developing the consensus; Head of Mathematics; Gold Medal Winner at the International Math Olympiad; BSc and MS Eng. from MIT.

Silvio Micali

Silvio Micali received his Laurea in Mathematics from the University of Rome and his PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1983, he has been a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at MIT. His research interests include cryptography, zero knowledge, pseudo-random generation, Byzantine agreement, secure protocols, mechanism design, and distributed ledgers. Silvio has been awarded the Turing Award (in computer science), the G?del Prize (in theoretical computer science), and the RSA Prize (in cryptography). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Academia dei Lincei. He is also the founder of Algorand LLC, a new foundational blockchain developed from scratch on totally new principles which simultaneously guarantees true decentralization, scalability, and security.

Adrian Wang

Adrian Wang is the Founder and CEO of Metalpha. He is also the Chairman of the Hong Kong Sustaintech Foundation. He graduated from Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance and holds an MBA degree from the HKUST Business School.

Arun Devabhaktuni

Arun Devabhaktuni is a professional with a background in systems biology, physics, and biology. He is currently a Lead Researcher at Mirana Ventures and an Angel Investor at Valhalla Capital. He has also served as the Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder of ZenMaid Software. Arun has received a PhD in Systems Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine and a BS in Physics and Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dan Elitzer

Dan Elitzer is co-founder at Nascent. Previously, Dan co-founded IDEO CoLab Ventures, a crypto-focused venture firm associated with the renowned design agency, IDEO. During that time, he also helped launch YAM Finance. Dan began his career in social enterprise and microfinance, working with both domestic social impact organizations and international development agencies. Dan earned an MBA from MIT Sloan, where he co-founded the MIT Bitcoin Club and MIT FinTech Club, and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Pomona College.

Theo Diamandis

Theo is pursuing an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science PhD at MIT, where he works on algorithms for and applications of mathematical optimization. These interests inevitably led to him being nerd sniped by Guillermo into working on crypto. When he’s not working on optimization solvers for DeFi-related applications, Theo can be found backpacking or skiing in the California Sierras.

Péter Garamvölgyi

Peter Garamvolgyi is the Lead, Protocol Engineering at Scroll and was previously an engineer at Conflux Network and president of the International Blockchain Association at Tsinghua University.

Jacopo Cecchi

Jacopo Cecchi currently serves as COO of Algorand Inc. In this role he is responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations, strategic oversight, company liaison for portfolio investments, and Board relations. Prior to his appointment as COO, Jacopo served as Chief of Staff to Algorand’s Founder, Silvio Micali. Before joining Algorand, Jacopo served as the VP of Marketing at myInvenio, a process mining software company dedicated to optimizing organizational processes through data-driven insights that was successfully acquired by IBM in 2021. Jacopo earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP) Business School.

Nitya Subramanian is the founder of Capsule. He was the former product lead of Celo. Nitya Subramanian graduated from MIT.
