About Euler Finance
Euler is a modular lending protocol on Ethereum built from the Euler Vault Kit and the Ethereum Vault Connector. Any team can use the kit to deploy an independent lending market, setting collateral, interest-rate model, oracle and liquidation parameters; the connector lets several vaults under one account share liquidity and collateral, so a position in one market can back a position in another, composing looping and structured strategies without touching the underlying contracts.
Markets built on the architecture fall into two groups: those for long-tail assets, where a deployer opens an isolated vault for a new token and sets collateral factors, and those for leveraged strategies that chain yield-bearing assets into looping positions. Clients are curators, market-making firms and front ends that embed lending. Each vault keeps its own books, and the connector shares collateral across vaults in one account.
Euler Finance launched its V1 lending protocol on Ethereum mainnet in late 2021, establishing a permissionless, non-custodial lending market. In March 2023, the platform suffered a flash loan attack resulting in a $197 million loss, which was fully recovered shortly after. This incident drove a fundamental security redesign. In September 2024, Euler V2 was launched as a modular DeFi lending protocol, introducing EVK (Euler Vault Kit) and EVC (Euler Vault Connector) to enable customizable vault deployment. In 2025, Euler expanded its ecosystem: launching the Maxi hybrid stablecoin (composed of USDY, USDe, and USDC), announcing Euler Swap (a DEX built on Uniswap V4 architecture), and securing listings on Upbit (KRW market) and Binance Alpha. The DAO-managed market was confirmed to have no exposure to the Stream protocol, operating normally. These milestones mark Euler's evolution from a simple lending protocol to a modular DeFi infrastructure layer.
Buyback halted: FeeFlow auctions have been paused since November 2025; the last EUL purchase settled on April 11 for 19,714.91 tokens, taking cumulative buybacks to about $3.2 million against a peak month of $713,000 in October 2025. A July 3 proposal cut protocol fees to zero across deployments, fee revenue has been zero since June, and restarting buybacks requires a new proposal to reinstate fees.
Revenue: Accrued protocol fees in August were just $51,700 with another $107,700 unconverted; Ethereum's fee base fell 12.5% month on month to $1.02 million while Monad rose 91.5% to $457,000. About 24.15 million EUL circulate, 89% of total supply, limiting further dilution.
On 1 June 2026 Euler brought HyperEVM coverage in-house, taking over the Mewler contract stack from HypurrFi and adding Hyperliquid support to the Euler interface. On 11 June Unlink's privacy layer integrated with Euler so institutions can supply, borrow and manage positions with less public linkage between wallets and vaults, and the same month Euler and Securitize launched an ERC-4626 vault that lets tokenised securities serve as productive collateral without losing transfer restrictions.
On 3 September Nomura's Laser Digital partnered with Keyring Network to build institutional fixed income markets on Euler, with Laser Digital acting as risk governor. After the 2025 Stream Finance losses, FeeFlow auctions have been paused since the last 19,714 EUL buyback settled on 11 April 2026, with cumulative repurchases at about $3.2 million.
Euler Finance's Future strategy and roadmap: Euler will ship a lightweight front end plus production APIs and an SDK in the fourth quarter, and support the DAO's plan to sunset its own markets and cut protocol fees to zero so it can act as neutral infrastructure for curators and institutional borrowers.
