About zkVerify

zkVerify is a purpose-built Layer-1 blockchain focused solely on verifying zero-knowledge proofs. Instead of running general smart contracts, it acts as a dedicated verification layer. Developers submit proofs (e.g., Groth16, Plonky2, RISC Zero) via RPC, and the network validates them and aggregates multiple proofs into a single Merkle root. This root is then bridged to target chains like Ethereum, allowing dApps to confirm proof validity with minimal on-chain cost.

The core problem it solves is the high cost and fragmentation of ZK proof verification. Verifying proofs directly on Ethereum can cost 200,000–300,000 gas per proof, and during congestion, gas prices can spike, making it unpredictable. Additionally, different proof systems (STARKs, SNARKs, etc.) are not natively supported by EVM, forcing projects to use complex wrapper contracts. zkVerify addresses this by supporting multiple proof types natively and using aggregation to amortize verification costs across many proofs, reducing fees by up to 90%.

Its competitive advantage lies in being a neutral, specialized layer. It is not a general-purpose chain competing with Ethereum, but a modular component that any ZK project can plug into. The network uses a Nominated Proof-of-Stake mechanism with the VFY token for fees and staking. It also supports permissionless aggregation, meaning anyone can publish aggregated proofs and earn rewards.

In the past six months (March–September 2026), zkVerify has focused on expanding its verifier ecosystem. The documentation shows support for additional proof systems like UltraPlonk and SP1, and the network has been integrated with several testnets including Sepolia and Base Sepolia. The team has also refined the aggregation domain system, allowing developers to configure aggregation sizes and publish queue lengths to balance cost and latency. No major security incidents or network outages have been reported during this period, though the project remains in a growth phase with ongoing protocol optimizations.

Positive: On March 31, 2026, zkVerify activated a fee distribution upgrade on mainnet, burning 70% of transaction fees and allocating 30% to block authors. This introduces deflationary pressure; if the burn rate exceeds the 2.5% annual inflation, the network turns deflationary, benefiting the token price.
