About zknox

zknox is a research-oriented organisation focused on hardware security and cryptography engineering, working with hardware wallet makers, privacy protocols and L2 developers across device secure enclaves, back-end TEE and HSM key management, and onchain contracts and ZK circuits. It addresses the EVM's lack of native support for some efficient signatures and complex verification logic, which has kept hardware wallets from fully supporting account abstraction features such as social recovery, multisig and granular permissions.

Its work implements the number theoretic transform in Yul to speed up post-quantum signature verification, cutting the onchain cost of verifying Falcon signatures from about 24 million gas to about 2 million, roughly a twelvefold reduction, bringing hardware-wallet post-quantum transactions close to ordinary transaction cost; it also ships a standardised SDK and explores generating zero-knowledge proofs on device to prove signature validity without exposing keys. Public partners include the Ethereum Foundation, RAILGUN, LFG Labs and CrossBar. In April 2026 the organisation presented these gas results and its hardware wallet integration work at EthCC.

zknox also outlined a standardised SDK that lets hardware wallets handle social recovery, multisig and granular permissioning under account abstraction, and is exploring on-device zero-knowledge proofs that verify signatures on-chain without exposing sensitive data.

Future strategy and roadmap: On the roadmap, ZKNox plans to push Falcon and ML-DSA Ethereum EIPs toward adoption, extend its open hardware security standard to more wallet makers and L2s, and position hardware wallets as a common entry point for cross-chain identity and post-quantum signing.
