About ZkCloud

ZkCloud is a universal proof layer for zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. Its core business is providing a decentralized network where users can submit computation tasks and receive ZK proofs via a simple API, without needing to manage their own proving hardware or infrastructure.

The main market pain point ZkCloud addresses is the high barrier to entry for ZK proof generation. Traditionally, generating proofs requires expensive GPUs, complex software stacks, and deep technical expertise. ZkCloud abstracts this away by offering a cloud-like service where proof generation is outsourced to a distributed network of provers, making ZK accessible to developers and businesses that lack specialized resources.

In terms of recent development, ZkCloud has achieved a significant milestone: since April 2025, it has been continuously generating zero-knowledge proofs for every Ethereum mainnet block, marking the first time in Ethereum's history that all blocks are ZK-proven. This demonstrates the network's capability to handle production-scale workloads. However, no major updates were found within the specified period from February to August 2026.

ZkCloud, formerly Gevulot, was founded in 2023 and raised $6 million in a seed round led by Variant, with participation from industry backers. Its core mission is to build a universal proving layer for zero-knowledge proofs, aggregating demand to reduce costs dramatically. In May 2024, the team announced Firestarter, the mainnet validator network, which went live on July 15, 2024. Firestarter is an end-to-end implementation of ZkCloud running in a permissioned manner, supporting pre-deployed provers such as Risc0, SP1, Nexus, Aztec, ZKsync, Starkware, Linea, and Polygon, while also allowing custom prover deployment. This launch marked a significant milestone, transitioning from testnet to a production-ready network and enabling developers to offload proof generation at a fraction of traditional cloud costs. The project's long-term significance lies in its dual-node architecture (provers and validators) and its vision of making provable compute economically viable for all, with an incentivized compute network planned for Q3 2024 and full mainnet launch targeted for Q1 2025.
