About WazirX

WazirX, once India's largest crypto exchange, faced a critical turning point in July 2024 when a multi-signature wallet hack led to a $230 million loss, representing 45% of user funds. Trading and withdrawals were halted immediately. The exchange proposed a restructuring scheme offering users 85% recovery via liquid assets and recovery tokens, which gained 93.1% creditor support. However, the Singapore High Court rejected the initial plan in June 2025. After amendments, a revote in August 2025 saw 95.7% approval, and the court finally approved the scheme in October 2025. The company also shifted its base from Singapore to Panama, renaming its parent entity Zensui, while the Supreme Court of India dismissed victim petitions. Trading is set to resume in late October 2025 with zero fees for 30 days, marking the end of a year-long suspension and a significant legal precedent for crypto insolvency cases in the region.
