About Spout Finance

Spout Finance is a lending protocol on Solana that lets users borrow stablecoins against tokenized equities, such as tokenized shares of Tesla or NVIDIA. Instead of selling their holdings to get cash, users can keep their positions and use them as collateral. The core value is simple: it offers a third option beyond 'sell' or 'wait' when someone owns stocks but needs liquidity. This is especially relevant for people outside the US who may not have easy access to margin lending or cheap credit. By using tokenized assets onchain, Spout aims to make borrowing more accessible, transparent, and globally available.

The main pain point Spout addresses is the traditional trade-off between holding assets and accessing their value. In conventional finance, if you own stocks and need cash, you either sell them (and potentially miss future gains) or go through a lengthy loan process. Spout removes these barriers by allowing instant, collateralized loans in USDC, all on Solana's fast and low-cost infrastructure. The narrative is about turning idle equity into working capital, without losing upside exposure.

Over the past six months (March to September 2026), Spout has been actively building and engaging with the community. It launched 'Whale Hub', an educational community aimed at teaching modern finance concepts and encouraging participation. The project also upgraded its infrastructure by adopting Helius as its primary RPC endpoint, improving reliability. Spout participated in Solana's Breakpoint Demo Day, presenting its progress to a broader audience. Additionally, it has been discussing the growing trend of major companies' stocks becoming onchain assets, positioning itself as a key player in this emerging space. No significant negative events were reported during this period.

Over the past six months (2026-03-04 to 2026-09-04), Spout Finance achieved several major milestones:

  1. SEC No-Action Letter: The SEC issued a no-action letter allowing DTC to support tokenized securities under existing rules for three years, covering Russell 1000 stocks, US Treasuries, and major index ETFs. This regulatory clarity enables Spout to bring US stocks and bonds onchain.

  2. Strategic Investment from Anchorage Digital: Anchorage Digital made a strategic investment in Spout, aiming to connect institutional liquidity directly to Spout's yield engine, accelerating the convergence of TradFi and DeFi.

  3. Partnership with Stork Labs: Spout partnered with Stork Labs to enhance liquidation mechanisms, ensuring efficient price-driven liquidations.

  4. Beta Launch on Solana Testnet: Spout's beta went live on Solana testnet, allowing users to access tokenized US equities, borrow at 0% APR, and earn yield via covered-call strategies.

Future Focus & Roadmap: Spout aims to build the borrowing layer for tokenized equities, enabling asset-backed borrowing at rates beating traditional margin. It plans to expand tokenized assets (stocks, bonds), integrate institutional liquidity, and leverage the SEC's no-action letter to scale onchain securities. The protocol targets a full mainnet launch, expanding beyond testnet, and continues to refine its covered-call yield engine and risk management (e.g., VIX-based regime shifts).
