About ETHGAS
ETHGAS is an infrastructure layer that turns Ethereum's block space into a tradable, predictable resource. Its core business involves two mechanisms: block space futures, which let users lock in future gas costs in advance, and pre-confirmations, where validators cryptographically commit to including transactions in upcoming blocks. This gives applications and institutions the ability to plan for both price and timing, rather than being at the mercy of spot market volatility.
The market pain point is clear: Ethereum's gas fees are highly volatile, and transaction confirmation times are uncertain. For high-frequency trading, rollup data submission, and institutional operations, this unpredictability is a systemic friction. ETHGAS addresses this by making gas costs and execution timelines something that can be budgeted and guaranteed.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), ETHGAS has made notable progress. It announced a major commercial agreement with ether.fi, a large non-custodial staking protocol, to deploy a significant amount of ETH into ETHGAS's high-performance staking service. This partnership strengthens the supply side of the block space futures market, providing the validator depth needed for credible execution guarantees. The project has also continued to develop its Open Gas tool, which allows DApps to offer gas subsidy programs to users without needing to build complex backend infrastructure. While the broader concept of block space futures has drawn some criticism regarding potential market manipulation by large players, ETHGAS's approach of combining futures with cryptographically secured pre-confirmations represents a practical path toward making Ethereum feel more like a real-time settlement layer.
ETHGas, a programmable gas infrastructure layer, has progressed through key milestones. In 2024, it completed a $12 million funding round led by Polychain Capital, with participation from Stake Capital, BlueYard Capital, and others, following an earlier undisclosed $5 million round. In December 2024, Ether.fi committed $3 billion in ETH as validator liquidity over three years, enabling deep market supply. In January 2025, ETHGas launched its governance token $GWEI, with a snapshot and airdrop checker, followed by Binance Alpha and Binance Wallet airdrop integrations. The project positions itself as a real-time execution layer, moving beyond gas futures to enable instant, predictable transactions.
