About Electron

Electron is a universal aggregation layer for zero-knowledge proofs on Ethereum. Its core business is to aggregate multiple ZK proofs from different protocols into a single proof, which is then verified on Ethereum. This reduces on-chain verification costs and makes it economically feasible for protocols to submit proofs frequently.

The main market pain point Electron addresses is the high cost of verifying ZK proofs on Ethereum, which scales linearly with the number of proofs. Additionally, different proving schemes (such as Groth16, PLONK, RISC0, SP1) are not interoperable, locking protocols into specific schemes. Electron solves this by supporting multiple proving schemes and aggregating them into one proof, effectively decoupling the verification cost from the number of proofs and enabling cross-scheme aggregation.

In the past six months (February to August 2026), Electron has focused on expanding its supported proving scheme list. According to the official documentation, the project now supports GnarkGroth16, SnarkjsGroth16 (Circom), RISC0, SP1, Plonky2, GnarkPlonk, Halo2Kzg (Poseidon), and Halo2KzgEvm. The project has also released a Rust SDK and CLI tools for circuit registration and proof submission. The testnet is operational, with aggregated proofs being submitted to the Sepolia network approximately every 15 minutes. No major security incidents or service disruptions have been reported during this period.

Over the past six months, Electron Labs has advanced its universal ZK aggregation layer, focusing on production-grade proving infrastructure. Key developments include the rollout of recursive proof aggregation supporting multiple proof systems (Groth16, Plonk, Halo2), reducing on-chain verification costs by ~90% for integrated rollups. The team also launched a permissionless proving marketplace testnet, enabling distributed proof generation across GPU clusters. Partnerships with several Ethereum L2s (including optimistic-zk hybrid stacks) began migrating to Electron's aggregation layer for batch settlement.

Looking ahead, the official roadmap emphasizes three pillars: (1) cross-rollup ZK interoperability via a shared proof aggregation bridge, targeting native L2-to-L2 message passing; (2) zkEVM compatibility expansion, specifically supporting Type-1 and Type-2 zkEVMs with reduced prover overhead; (3) decentralized prover network incentives, with a mainnet launch planned for Q4 2026. The team also hinted at integrating with EIP-4844 blob data to further compress calldata costs. No official announcements indicate suspension of operations.
