About Shibarium
Shibarium, the Layer 2 solution for Shiba Inu, has undergone several pivotal milestones. Its mainnet launched on August 17, 2023, aiming to reduce gas fees and enhance scalability, with BONE as the native gas token and SHIB burning mechanisms. However, on September 13, 2023, the Shibarium cross-chain bridge suffered a flash loan attack, resulting in losses exceeding $2.4 million. The attacker exploited stolen bridge funds to manipulate consensus, compromising 10 of 12 validators. The team responded by suspending staking, moving funds to a 6-of-9 multisig wallet, and collaborating with security firms. Subsequently, the project introduced the "Shib Owes You" (SOU) compensation system, issuing on-chain NFTs to track and repay affected users, while prioritizing revenue-generating initiatives. These events highlight Shibarium's resilience and long-term commitment to security and community recovery.
Over the past six months, Shibarium completed a major backend overhaul: server migration and full-chain re-indexing, with explorer sync around 51%. The chain has actually processed over 14 million blocks, 1.56 billion transactions, and 270 million wallets. Safe v1.4.1's nine contracts were deployed and verified on Shibariumscan, registered via PR#1666. Puppynet testnet relaunched and resumed block production, inviting builders back. Official focus is shifting to Layer 3: Shib Alpha and ShibClaw are in testing, with WoofSwap launching an L3 explorer; privacy (FHE) and Shiba Eternity Play-to-Earn are also on the roadmap. However, current TVL is only about $80K, with daily transactions below 1,000, so demand still needs recovery.

Shytoshi Kusama – Lead developer and public face of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Oversaw Shibarium's mainnet launch and subsequent optimization. Active on X (@ShytoshiKusama) with 1.1M followers.
Robil Sharma – Senior Software Engineer at Shiba Inu (since Jan 2024). Founding member of Shibarium L2, led end-to-end development and scaling. Achieved 10M+ daily transactions and ~96% infrastructure cost reduction. Previously Tech Lead at Eiysys, built Web3 platforms.
Kumar Saurabh – Engineering Lead at Shiba Inu (since Jan 2025). Co-created ShibPay and Ketch (CNCF ecosystem framework). Helped scale Shibarium to 1B+ transactions and 175M+ addresses. Previously at Andela and Shipa (acquired by Mirantis).
Note: The anonymous founder Ryoshi proposed Shibarium in 2021 but is not an active executive.
