About PROOF
PROOF's key milestones began in December 2021, when Kevin Rose founded Proof Collective, a private membership community of 1,000, with NFT passes sold via Dutch auction, establishing an exclusive community foundation.
In April 2022, Proof launched Moonbirds, a 10,000-piece pixelated owl PFP collection, which sold out instantly and quickly became a blue-chip, driving the company's expansion into a Web3 brand. In August of the same year, Proof completed a $50 million Series A round led by a16z, announced the CC0 license for Moonbirds and Oddities, and teased full on-chain storage, Moonbirds DAO, a social platform, and the upcoming Mythics project.
In 2023, the 20,000-piece Moonbirds Mythics collection launched as a reward for holders. In February 2024, Yuga Labs acquired PROOF outright, including Moonbirds, Oddities, Grails IP, with Kevin Rose becoming an advisor and the Moonbirds community integrated into the Otherside ecosystem.
These milestones trace PROOF's journey from private membership, PFP launch, open IP, ecosystem financing, to acquisition.
In the past six months, PROOF was acquired by Orange Cap Games (OCG), shifting Moonbirds from a "managed IP" to an "actively operated product." The BIRB token completed its TGE on Solana in January, positioned as a governance and utility token bridging digital collectibles and physical consumption. The official "Birbillions" strategy emphasizes combining meme culture with commercial revenue, with the physical card game generating approximately $8 million in revenue. Future priorities include deepening the BIRB token ecosystem, launching Nesting 2.0 staking mechanisms, and promoting community governance and project incubation through the Lunar Society (formerly Moonbirds DAO).
