About Notabene

Notabene is a compliance platform built specifically for the crypto Travel Rule, which requires virtual asset service providers (VASPs) to share customer information when transferring funds. Its core product, SafeTransact, helps exchanges and financial institutions verify counterparties, screen self-hosted wallets, and check sanctions before a transaction is approved. A second product, Revert, solves the post-settlement problem of returning funds when a transaction is sent to the wrong address or involves a non-compliant counterparty.

The main market pain point is that Travel Rule implementation varies across jurisdictions, making cross-border crypto transfers legally risky and operationally messy. Many VASPs struggle to identify who they are transacting with, especially when counterparties use different protocols or fail to provide required data. Notabene addresses this by operating the largest Travel Rule-compliant network, connecting over 2,300 institutions across 100+ jurisdictions and processing more than $2.6 trillion in compliant transaction volume. It supports multiple messaging protocols, including IVMS101, allowing seamless data exchange between parties regardless of their underlying systems.

In the past six months, Notabene's 2025 report highlighted a sharp regulatory shift: EU-based crypto firms saw a 200x increase in transaction volume leading up to the December 2024 Travel Rule deadline, while non-EU volume grew only 8x. However, 71% of EU VASPs missed the deadline, and many are now catching up. One third have implemented processes to identify and report repeat non-compliant counterparties to regulators, creating pressure on global peers. Compliance has effectively become a gatekeeper for business — firms that fail to meet expectations are being excluded from transactions and losing counterparties. Notabene's role as the trust layer for compliant crypto transfers has therefore become more central, though the industry still faces significant fragmentation and uneven adoption.

In the past six months, Notabene has achieved several major milestones. It received a strategic investment from Ripple, and the two parties will collaborate to integrate RLUSD stablecoin into Notabene Flow, accelerating enterprise-grade stablecoin payments. The launch of Revert, a post-settlement control layer, addresses the challenge of returning funds after transactions, meeting regulatory requirements. Notabene Flow has activated hundreds of customers, enabling stablecoin B2B payments, with network coverage across over 100 jurisdictions and annualized transaction volume exceeding $2 trillion. Additionally, an integration with Corsa brings Travel Rule data into compliance workflows, improving compliance efficiency.

Regarding future development focus, Notabene will leverage the Ripple ecosystem to accelerate the rollout of Flow, and plans to bring on more leading financial institutions as strategic partners in the coming quarters. It will also continue to advance innovative products like Revert, refine industry standards, and consolidate its position as the trust layer and compliance infrastructure for digital assets.
