About Modern Treasury
Modern Treasury is a payment operations platform that helps businesses automate the full lifecycle of money movement. Its core product is an API-driven system combining payment initiation, bank account management, a real-time general ledger, and compliance tools. The company positions itself as an alternative to building in-house banking infrastructure or relying on traditional BaaS providers, supporting both fiat rails (ACH, wire, RTP, FedNow) and stablecoin payments.
The main market pain point it addresses is the fragmentation of payment infrastructure: companies often struggle with manual reconciliation, poor visibility into cash flow, and the complexity of integrating multiple banks and payment networks. Modern Treasury solves this by offering a unified platform where customers can manage all payment flows, track balances in real time, and automate accounting entries.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), Modern Treasury launched "Payments," a full-stack payment service provider offering that combines payment processing, ledgering, and compliance in one package. This allows customers to use Modern Treasury as their PSP directly, or bring their own bank partners. The company also expanded stablecoin support, including USDT and improved orchestration for crypto-to-fiat conversions. Additionally, it added support for receiving ACH debits and push-to-card capabilities, while continuing to scale its infrastructure to handle higher transaction volumes.
No major negative events were reported in the last two years, though the company faces competition from both traditional BaaS platforms and emerging payment orchestration startups.
Modern Treasury was founded in 2018 with a mission to build the operating system for corporate payments, addressing the complexity of bank integrations and payment operations. A pivotal moment came in 2021 when the company raised a Series C round led by Salesforce Ventures and SVB Capital, validating its vision and fueling product expansion. In 2026, the company launched Modern Treasury Payments, an integrated payment service provider platform that unifies accounts, payments, compliance, ledgering, and stablecoin orchestration through a single API. This marked a strategic shift from software-only to full-stack infrastructure. Additionally, the acquisition of Beam, a stablecoin and fiat payment platform, positioned Modern Treasury at the forefront of real-time payment innovation. These milestones reflect a consistent evolution from a niche treasury tool to a comprehensive payment infrastructure company, enabling businesses to launch modern payment products in days rather than months.
Modern Treasury has made significant strides in H1 2026. In February, it launched Payments, an integrated PSP unifying fiat and stablecoin rails via a single API. By May, monthly payment volume surpassed $100M, with 73% real-time, demonstrating strong demand for instant settlement. The company also introduced Global USD Accounts, enabling platforms to offer named U.S. accounts to users in 90+ countries, supporting ACH, wire, RTP, FedNow, and stablecoin flows.
Looking ahead, Modern Treasury plans to expand its PSP capabilities with check issuance, received ACH debits, push-to-card, and digital checks. On the stablecoin front, it will add USDT support and improve ramp orchestration for smoother fiat-crypto conversion. The roadmap emphasizes scaling infrastructure to handle higher volumes with minimal manual intervention, while continuing to enhance multi-rail payment orchestration and compliance tools for global operations.
