MITO is used for network staking security, governance voting (gMITO) and liquidity incentives; part of cross-chain and vault fees flow back into the token economy and stakers, with a fixed supply released in tranches.

About Mitosis
Mitosis turns liquidity positions into yield-bearing assets that travel across chains: users deposit LP tokens or stablecoins and mint miETH, miUSDC and other miAssets one to one, which are then lent, borrowed or market-made on connected chains while yield flows back into the miAsset price. miAssets can be posted as collateral in lending markets, and redemption burns them at the cumulative exchange rate to return the original position, so moving across chains does not change ownership of the underlying LP. Under its Ecosystem-Owned Liquidity framework, protocol-owned liquidity is allocated across deployments by vote, addressing LP positions trapped on one chain that lose their native yield once bridged.
It is a cross-chain liquidity layer rather than a message bridge: a bridge moves tokens, Mitosis moves a claim that carries yield. Scale is small, with about 1.25 million dollars locked in October 2026, no protocol revenue, documentation and blog pages long unreachable, no product update in six months, and a token down more than 95% from its September 2025 high.
Mitosis launched its public testnet with an XP system, marking the first major milestone in validating its cross-chain liquidity architecture. Later, the project opened airdrop claims for $MITO, distributing 10% of the total supply to early participants. The token subsequently listed on Binance Alpha and Binance Futures, followed by a HODLer airdrop event and integration with Binance Wealth Management. These steps transitioned Mitosis from testnet to live mainnet, establishing its Ecosystem Owned Liquidity (EOL) model as a practical framework for DAO-governed cross-chain liquidity.
Unlock overhang: The 12-month cliff for early backers and core contributors expired in September, putting about 40% of supply, roughly 400 million tokens, into release; circulating supply has climbed to about 450 million, or 45%, after roughly 181 million tMITO unlocked on March 11.
Fundamentals: TVL is only about $1.25 million with no protocol revenue, and the token trades near $0.016 in October, more than 95% below its September 2025 high of $0.41; official docs and blog have been inaccessible for months, with no product updates or buyback plans in the past half year.
On 26 August 2026 Mitosis published a new manifesto casting itself as the execution layer for unfragmented liquidity, arguing that assets should exist on several networks at once and settle atomically. The pitch follows the September 2025 mainnet launch and MITO issuance, but 2026 brought no matching major release.
Community sentiment runs the other way. On 24 May an analysis flagged treasury addresses moving about 159 million MITO across chains and exchanges while redemption terms for tMITO remained unexplained, leaving stakers and liquidity providers unable to reach their funds; some called it a programmable rug. On 23 October SunCrypto delisted MITO from its futures market, citing weak liquidity and trading demand. The core issue is unclear accountability: treasury and team addresses lack traceable onchain separation, redemption terms live only in community promises, and any large transfer reads as an exit signal. Delisting futures removes the hedging channel, leaving spot selling as the only exit and degrading price discovery.
Mitosis settles the redemption path and treasury disclosure first, then talks about Matrix vaults and cross-chain maAssets, otherwise the narrative will not win trust back.
