About LI.FI

LI.FI is a cross-chain bridge and DEX aggregator that provides a unified API and SDK, enabling developers to integrate once and access liquidity across 60+ blockchains. Its core business is an execution layer that routes transactions through the optimal combination of bridges and decentralized exchanges, supporting swaps, cross-chain transfers, and yield strategies.

The market pain point it addresses is liquidity fragmentation: users previously had to manage multiple bridges and DEXs separately, facing high slippage, complex gas management, and inconsistent token standards. LI.FI solves this by abstracting the underlying complexity into a single interface, automatically selecting the best route for price, speed, and success rate.

Its core narrative has evolved toward "intent-based execution." The LI.FI Intents architecture allows users to specify desired outcomes (e.g., exact output amount) while solvers handle the technical steps, including gas fees and route optimization. This makes cross-chain interactions as simple as a single click, even for non-crypto-native users.

In the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-29), LI.FI has focused on enterprise adoption. It launched LI.FI Earn, offering on-chain yield strategies via a single integration, and expanded LI.FI Intents to serve fintech companies, neobanks, and regulated financial institutions. The protocol now supports stablecoin payments and RWA (real-world asset) liquidity, with built-in compliance checks including OFAC screening.

However, LI.FI experienced a significant security incident in July 2024, where an attacker exploited a smart contract vulnerability to steal approximately $9.7-11 million from user wallets. This was its second exploit, following a $600,000 loss in 2022. These events highlight the inherent risks of complex multi-chain aggregation logic, even for audited protocols.

LI.FI, a cross-chain bridge aggregator, was founded in May 2021 by Philipp Zentner and Max Klenk. In July 2022, it raised $5.5 million in a seed round led by 1kx, with participation from Dragonfly Capital and Coinbase Ventures. In March 2023, the protocol suffered its first major security breach, with hackers stealing approximately $600,000 from wallets that had granted token permissions. Later that month, LI.FI completed a $17.5 million Series A round co-led by CoinFund and Superscrypt. In July 2023, it integrated ThorChain to expand cross-chain routing options. In July 2024, a critical vulnerability was discovered, affecting over $8 million in funds; only users who had manually set unlimited token approvals were impacted. LI.FI subsequently launched a voluntary compensation program for affected users. In December 2025, the protocol raised an additional $29 million in a Series A extension led by Multicoin Capital and CoinFund, bringing total funding to $51.7 million. By early 2026, LI.FI had expanded to support over 60 chains, including Solana, and processed more than $80 billion in cumulative transaction volume.
