About Fogo
Fogo, a high-performance SVM-based Layer 1, has several milestones of long-term significance. In January 2025, its third Pre-TGE Prime Sale was oversubscribed by 40.8 times, raising 316,000 BNB, signaling strong market confidence. On January 15, FOGO began trading on secondary markets, with Binance and OKX listing the token, marking the mainnet launch and transition to public access. Around the same time, the airdrop tracking page went live and claims opened on January 15, distributing tokens via the Fogo Flames points system to early testnet users and community contributors, reflecting a community-first allocation approach. However, in August 2026, the Fogo Foundation suffered a security breach, with approximately 400 million FOGO tokens stolen (4% of genesis supply, over 10% of circulating supply), forcing the mainnet to halt. This incident exposed governance centralization risks—the halt button concentrated in few hands, lacking rehearsed security protocols. This event became a watershed; whether Fogo can rebuild trust and strengthen security will determine its long-term trajectory.
Negative: On Aug 29, 2026, Fogo suffered a hack where ~400M FOGO tokens were minted and stolen, forcing a mainnet halt; ~163M tokens remain unrecovered.
Positive: The team recovered 237M stolen tokens and permanently burned them, reducing supply; the mainnet has resumed operation, with ongoing cooperation with exchanges and law enforcement to trace remaining assets.
Fogo's co-founders are Douglas Colkitt and Robert Sagurton.
Douglas Colkitt: Founder of Ambient Finance (creator of the Ambient/CrocSwap DEX protocol). Previously a quantitative researcher at Citadel Securities, with ~10 years of experience in high-frequency trading and direct market access. Graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Computer Science.
Robert Sagurton: Former Global Head of Digital Asset Sales and business advisor at Jump Crypto. Earlier roles include enterprise blockchain firm R3, and traditional finance institutions JPMorgan, State Street, Deutsche Bank, and Morgan Stanley, covering institutional sales and digital assets. Currently serves as Director of the Fogo Foundation.
