About DeNet
DeNet is a decentralized storage protocol that aggregates idle capacity from independent providers, called Datakeepers, into an encrypted storage network for individuals, enterprises and AI workloads. It targets three problems of centralized cloud: data concentrated in one vendor creates a single point of failure, cross-border storage struggles with data sovereignty rules, and users lose real control of files to a platform account.
Roles are separated: Datakeepers supply capacity and stake collateral, while Watcher Nodes are lightweight mobile validators that continuously audit whether files remain available and intact, so verification depends on no central server. Data is encrypted and sharded client-side before being written to the network, retrieved from nearby nodes, with the protocol handling distribution, encryption, verification and retrieval. On 30 July 2026 DeNet launched Storage Protocol v4 publicly on the PEAQ mainnet, with more than 7 million registered users, over 2,000 active Datakeepers, about 2.9 million Watcher Nodes and participants in 194 countries; roughly 4.6 million files were stored, with stored data up 49% in the prior 30 days. DeNet Storage, the first application on the protocol, handles mobile file storage, management and sharing.
Mainnet launch: On July 30 DeNet's Storage Protocol v4 went live on the PEAQ mainnet, with a network of 2,000+ Datakeeper nodes and roughly 2.9 million Watcher validation nodes across 194 countries and more than 7 million ecosystem users; stored data grew about 49% over the last 30 days, with 5.1 million file parts held across the network.
Commercial progress: On May 27 DeNet opened pre-launch sales ahead of its public release, priced in TBY (Terabyte/Year) tokens starting at $150 each, offering 1-25 TB of long-term decentralized storage; a desktop app and a white-label infrastructure program supporting AI-agent backup workflows are planned for autumn.
DeNet launched Storage Protocol v4 on 30 July 2026, going live on the PEAQ mainnet and opening its storage service to the public. At launch the network had more than 7 million registered users across 194 countries, over 2,000 Datakeepers supplying capacity and roughly 2.9 million Watcher Nodes verifying data availability; core v4 development was completed in the first quarter of 2026, after the third-generation protocol ran on a Polygon test network.
Future strategy and roadmap: DeNet plans to ship a desktop app and a white-label programme in the autumn so businesses can embed decentralised storage in their own services, add backup workflows for AI agents, and promote multi-year capacity purchases instead of monthly subscriptions.
