About Compute Labs
Compute Labs is a protocol that tokenizes NVIDIA GPUs into digital assets called GNFTs and miniGPU tokens on Solana. Investors can hold these tokens to earn USDC yield generated from real GPU rental and computing services. The protocol validates hardware authenticity using nvidia-smi and GPU-Z, ensuring each token is backed by a physical, operational GPU.
The core narrative is turning compute power into an investable asset class. As AI demand surges, the bottleneck is shifting from chip manufacturing to capital deployment. Compute Labs addresses this by lowering the investment barrier, allowing smaller investors to participate in GPU economics without owning or operating hardware.
Market pain points include high entry costs for GPU ownership, lack of liquidity in traditional hardware investments, and financing gaps for small and mid-sized cloud service providers. Compute Labs solves these by fractionalizing ownership, providing on-chain transparency, and creating a secondary market for GPU-backed assets.
In the past six months (2026-03 to 2026-09), Compute Labs has focused on expanding its tokenized GPU offerings, particularly around Nvidia GB300 deployments. Discussions highlighted the shift toward credit-support models in the industry, with Compute Labs positioning itself to help mid-market neoclouds access institutional-grade financing. The protocol continues to emphasize its multi-layered validation and transparent yield distribution mechanisms.
Key progress in the past six months:
- April 2026: Compute Labs stated that project finance is officially replacing venture equity as the primary engine for AI compute, and it is building asset-backed financing structures to close the funding gap for mid-market neocloud operators.
- June 2026: As traditional financial markets adapt to AI infrastructure capital demands, Compute Labs is helping build capital markets for compute, including asset-backed financing for GPU infrastructure. Major institutions such as Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan are exploring GPU lease futures, with Compute Labs' head of capital markets contributing to the discussion.
- August 2026: Compute Labs partnered with Plume to integrate tokenized AI compute assets such as H100 and B200 into the Plume ecosystem, enabling GPU trading, boosting TVL, and planning the integration of the compute-backed yield stablecoin C-USD.
Official future focus and roadmap:
Compute Labs will continue advancing compute financialization via its Compute Tokenization Protocol (CTP), converting enterprise GPUs into verifiable digital assets (GNFT and miniGPU). It plans to expand the compute ecosystem with financial derivatives including GPU ETFs, a Compute Labs market index, perpetual contracts, staking and lending. It also aims to provide financing and GPU supply assurance for AI projects, cloud and HPC providers, connecting investors with neoclouds to make compute a standardized, institutional-grade asset class.
