About Coins.ph

Coins.ph, a leading licensed virtual asset service provider in the Philippines, has achieved several milestones with long-term significance. In 2024, it received approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to pilot PHPC, a Philippine Peso-backed stablecoin, under the central bank's Regulatory Sandbox Framework. This marked a pivotal step in regulated stablecoin adoption in the country. PHPC was subsequently launched on multiple blockchains, including Polygon, Ronin, and Solana, strategically expanding its accessibility across gaming and DeFi ecosystems. The stablecoin is fully backed by cash and cash equivalents, ensuring 1:1 redeemability. These developments position Coins.ph at the forefront of bridging traditional finance and digital assets in Southeast Asia, with PHPC serving as a regulated medium for remittances, payments, and cross-border transactions.

Coins.ph (coins.ph) has made major strides in integrating crypto into the Philippines' national QR Ph payment standard. In April 2026, it rolled out stablecoin (USDT/USDC) payments across ~700,000 QR Ph-enabled merchants, with automated fiat conversion at checkout and reversal/refund handling. This was expanded to Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) in the following months, making Coins.ph the first platform to offer direct crypto spending at national scale.

On the development front, Coins.ph completed testing of its own Philippine Peso-backed stablecoin (PHPC) within the BSP regulatory sandbox and is finalizing central bank approval to exit. Subject to approval, PHPC will be listed alongside USDT/USDC, aiming to eliminate forex spreads for local commerce. Additionally, the company introduced 'Link & Pay', a tokenized payment feature supporting recurring billing and direct debits from PHP balances, with real-time settlement for merchants.

Future roadmap centers on launching PHPC as a primary retail settlement tool, expanding crypto payment options beyond the current tokens, and deepening integration with institutional payment infrastructure, leveraging QR Ph's nationwide reach to make crypto a viable everyday payment method.
