About Catalysis

Catalysis is risk-coverage infrastructure for onchain vaults, designed to embed a programmable protection layer directly into DeFi vaults so that institutional capital can pair onchain exposure with a matching payout arrangement. Restaked assets serve as the underwriting capital: every coverage contract is collateralised by a CoverPool managed by a curator, who screens risk, issues contracts and routes premiums back to the delegators who supplied the collateral.

Pricing and settlement run entirely in smart contracts. A contract carries a dynamic rate set by a pricing model at issuance, and after a risk event the preset conditions are checked automatically, with payouts delivered through slashing of the collateral rather than a manual claims process. Catalysis emphasises an institution-first design, with coverage terms written for legal enforceability and compliance traceability, while capacity, rates and settled payouts remain visible onchain. The protocol is deployed primarily on Ethereum and is open to vaults and asset managers.

Updated: Oct 30, 2026

On April 14, 2026 Catalysis launched its mainnet on Ethereum, starting with the Gauntlet-curated WETH vault on Morpho; each CoverPool is backed by restaked capital from EigenLayer, with coverage terms fixed at deposit and payouts settling automatically. The team says less than 1% of DeFi TVL is covered today and plans to extend coverage to more Morpho vaults plus Euler and Nest Credit.

Through the second quarter of 2026 Catalysis's focus is scaling underwriting capacity and onboarding new curators, followed by integrations with Euler, Nest Credit and other vault platforms so coverage becomes a standard vault primitive open to more institutional allocators.
