About Agora
Agora is an on-chain governance platform serving protocols such as Uniswap, ENS, and Optimism. It provides customizable voting and delegation tools without requiring custom smart-contract code. Its core narrative is "the home of on-chain governance": modularizing proposal creation, voting, and delegate management so communities can deploy and run governance systems quickly. The pain points it addresses are the fragmentation of DAO governance tooling, high customization cost, and high participation barriers. By standardizing governance workflows, it reduces the technical and security burden for protocols.
Regarding the period from March 5, 2026 to September 5, 2026: based on currently available public information, no verifiable major product release, adoption milestone, or independently confirmed event was found. Public social-media posts from the project mostly discuss governance trends and a modular, OpenZeppelin-compatible Governor 2.0 component, but these lack specific dates, adoption metrics, or independent verification. No significant negative news with reliable sourcing was identified either.
Agora was founded in 2022 by Yitong Zhang as a governance tool platform for decentralized protocols. In May 2024, it completed a $5 million seed round led by Haun Ventures, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Seed Club Ventures, and ConsenSys Ventures, to build standardized governance infrastructure. Agora deployed governance applications for top DAOs such as Nouns DAO and ENS, and was adopted by Uniswap and Optimism. It also open-sourced its platform under the MIT license, promoting openness and composability in on-chain governance. These milestones established its long-term influence in DAO governance.
Key progress (2026-03-12 to 2026-09-12):
Constitutional governance milestones: On Aug 1-3, the Council passed 5 unanimous decisions (GOV-2026-0001 to 0005), ratifying the Agora Constitution (GOV-2026-0003), ruling the jester function exists in distributed form (GOV-2026-0004), and clarifying Article V.1.3 that context carries dispositive weight in harassment moderation (GOV-2026-0005).
Transaction Simulation & Verification: Launched deep simulation of DAO proposals using full governor and timelock context via Tenderly, with forked mainnet state, execution traces, gas usage, storage diffs, and event logs. Draft-mode simulations also supported.
Governance tools: Released get_governance_log and get_proposals tools; governance log now public with concise summaries and full deliberation transcripts.
Backend V2 ABI superset development (Sprint 35a+35b) with external review request.
Future focus:
- Implementing GOV-2026-0005 context-retrieval infrastructure (Tier 2 moderation pipeline upgrades)
- Publishing Security@ mailbox, appeal fee structure, and successor plan
- Establishing power imbalance standard (deferred)
- Periodic review of the Convergence Review Rule after next 10 decisions
