Qubic: 1,404 wallets stolen, 1.3 million USD QU, network suspended
The blockchain project Qubic disclosed that 1,404 wallets were transferred approximately 2.94 trillion QU, worth 1.3 million USD. Unauthorized transfers occurred from 23:42 to 01:26 the next day, and network validators subsequently paused trading at tick 85,371,949.
Qubic stated that the incident involved predictable wallet seeds generated by outdated Apple devices and browsers, and the related issue has been fixed in version 4.26.4. Developers also protected other at-risk funds before the attacker made the transfers. About 87.1% of the stolen QU remains in the suspended Qubic network, while approximately 12.9% was transferred to the cryptocurrency exchange MEXC and frozen. The cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has suspended QUBIC deposits and withdrawals, and whether victims will be compensated will be determined by Qubic's Computor cluster; QEARN staking is unaffected.
