Lighter launches EVM development network: supports smart contracts to directly manage transaction orders
The decentralized perpetual contract trading platform Lighter announced that its EVM development network is now online. This network is built in collaboration with Axiom and is an EVM-equivalent Rollup based on OpenVM, running in parallel with Lighter Core. Both parties plan to settle to Ethereum through a single zero-knowledge proof (ZK Proof).
Developers can use tools such as Foundry, Hardhat, Viem, and Ethers to deploy smart contracts, read accounts, balances, positions, orders, and market data on Lighter Core, and directly create, modify, and cancel orders through smart contracts. In addition, the network supports asset transfers between the development network L1, Lighter Core, and Lighter EVM. Currently, development teams can apply for access via email, and Lighter will gradually open access, planning to make it available to all developers in the coming weeks.
