Macquarie: September CPI rise does not drive October rate hike

Oct 13, 2026 13:20:44

Macquarie Group strategist Thierry Wizman stated that the U.S. September CPI is expected to accelerate, but it is unlikely to prompt the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in October.

Analysts expect the overall CPI in September to increase year-on-year from 3.4% in August to 3.6%. Market pricing indicates that the probability of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates at the meeting on October 28 is about 19%.
