Stock Spot Trading Platform Ranking Explained

RootData ranks platforms that support stock spot trading, helping users compare their trading activity, liquidity, active product coverage and broader stock trading capabilities.

The ranking score is based on publicly available and verifiable trade and order book data. Stock spot products offered by the platform or third-party issuers may be included when they are currently tradable through a public two-sided order book. Brokerage channels, RFQ markets, internal quotes and other markets without public order books may be displayed as business coverage but are excluded from scoring. Stock perpetuals, futures, options and CFDs are outside the scope of this ranking.

Each eligible platform receives an overall score that measures the performance of its public order book stock spot markets. The score consists of 24h Volume (35%), Liquidity (50%) and Active Products (15%).

24h Volume reflects actual trading activity over the past 24 hours. Liquidity considers bid–ask spreads and order book depth to assess immediate trading costs and market capacity. Active Products reflects currently tradable stock products with actual trading activity during the past 24 hours.

Platforms with higher scores generally have more active public-market trading, stronger execution liquidity and broader active product coverage. Brokerage channels and other markets without public order books do not affect the score.

RootData primarily sources ranking data from official platform APIs and trading pages. Raw trade and order book data is then cleaned, validated and standardized.

Products from different issuers, quote assets and trading pairs are mapped to a consistent product structure. When the same stock has multiple eligible trading pairs, their volume is aggregated without counting the active product more than once. Data that cannot be verified for product classification, trading status or public order book availability is not included in the score.

The ranking focuses on 24-hour trading volume, bid–ask spreads and order book depth across eligible stock spot markets. These indicators help users understand actual market activity, immediate trading costs, market capacity and potential slippage. The displayed volume and liquidity metrics reflect public order book markets only and do not include brokerage channels or other non-public trading activity.

RootData counts stock products that are currently tradable through a public order book and have recorded trading activity during the past 24 hours. The same stock is not counted multiple times because it is offered by different issuers or against different quote currencies. When public trade or order book data cannot be reliably verified, RootData does not replace it with historical data, market-wide figures or subjective estimates. Undisclosed brokerage-channel data is not treated as missing public-market data and does not reduce the score.

The page shows whether a platform provides brokerage access and, where verifiable, the number of real stocks and ETFs available through that channel. This information describes broader stock trading coverage and does not contribute to the overall score. A dash (–) is shown if the asset class is not offered or the relevant data cannot be verified.

RootData updates the stock spot trading platform ranking regularly. Trade and order book data is collected at scheduled intervals, and scores are calculated using valid data from the latest measurement period. Stock product and brokerage-channel information is periodically verified against official platform disclosures.

Platforms that support stock spot trading but are not yet included, or believe their displayed data is incomplete, may contact RootData and submit official stock category pages, trading pairs and market data APIs, issuer information or brokerage-channel documentation.
