About Quantus

Quantus is a proof-of-work Layer 1 designed around post-quantum security, with mainnet live on 9 September 2026. Signatures use post-quantum schemes in the ML-DSA (Dilithium-5) family, key encapsulation uses ML-KEM, addresses and privacy rely on recursive STARK constructions, supply is capped at 21 million QTC, and blocks are produced with a Poseidon2-based proof of work. It targets a long-horizon risk: elliptic-curve signatures could have private keys derived by a sufficiently strong quantum computer, and existing chains lack a migration path.

Rather than patching an existing chain, Quantus writes post-quantum signatures into consensus and the account model from genesis, at the cost of reusing existing wallets and developer tooling, so the ecosystem must be built from scratch. At launch the team reported about 430 QTPS and roughly 247 active miners, with some components audited by Eiger and Neodyme while ZK circuits and threshold signatures remain under review. The timeline for quantum risk is itself disputed, so the schedule is a matter of judgment, and liquidity at this stage is fragile.

Quantus is a post-quantum-secure Layer 1 blockchain. Key milestones: In December 2024, it completed funding and selected Substrate, starting the Heisenberg phase; in July 2025, it launched a public testnet with ML-DSA (Dilithium) signatures and reversible transactions; from October to November 2025, it reached feature completeness and audits, and switched PoW to Poseidon2; in Q2 2026, the mainnet launched, with mining-only token distribution starting on September 9 and liquidity opening weeks later. Long-term significance: it uses NIST-standardized post-quantum signatures ML-DSA-87 for transactions and ML-KEM for node communication; Wormhole Addresses and Plonky2 recursive ZK proofs provide scalability; user-configurable reversible transactions and high-security accounts strengthen asset safety; Substrate-based forkless upgrades and OpenGov governance support continuous protocol evolution. These features make Quantus an early mainnet project combining post-quantum cryptography, ZK scalability, and account security.

Quantus mainnet went live at genesis on September 9, 2026, drawing 7,000+ GPUs to mine on day one; by September 16 it had produced over 53,000 consecutive blocks, 3,546 accounts and 16,463 QTC, with 4,011 on-chain verified ZK proofs settling 19,248 private payouts and 11,645 transparent transfers. The September 30 weekly update reported hashrate at 24 TH/s, mining difficulty above 300T, and 650-1,100 daily active accounts. On the tech side, the team completed formal verification of the ZK circuits: the aggregation spec proves each real nullifier is spent only once and the switch network that reorders nullifiers inside a private batch is proven to route any permutation, removing the last unproven assumption in the private-batch completeness proof, and released qp-plonky2 v1.6.0; it also open-sourced the Quantus indexer, shipped quantus-cli v2.3.0, and launched chain v1.0.2 with a fee-reduction runtime. In September Quantus announced a NEAR Intents integration, opened its testnet miner airdrop for claims (deadline December 1), and co-hosted Quantum & Privacy Day with NEAR in Singapore during Token2049 on October 8, with speakers including Balaji Srinivasan, Zooko Wilcox and Illia Polosukhin.

Future strategy and roadmap: Going forward, Quantus will advance the NEAR Intents cross-chain integration to let QTC flow seamlessly across chains, disclose where and when QTC becomes tradable, and keep refining the ZK aggregation layer and private-payment experience; as the mainnet matures it will gradually grow its miner and validator set and reinforce post-quantum security as its core narrative, positioning quantum-resistant PoW and private settlement as long-term usable infrastructure for both institutions and retail.
