About Hippius
Hippius is a decentralised cloud storage network running as Bittensor Subnet 75, positioned as a hot-storage layer for AI training and inference. It has three layers: the Hermes gateway exposes an S3-compatible endpoint and handles OAuth login, access keys and billing in fiat via Stripe or in TAO; the subnet layer carries incentives and verification, paying miners according to capacity provided and audit pass rates; Arion is the underlying peer-to-peer storage network.
Arion erasure-codes each file into 30 shards, 10 data and 20 parity, any 10 of which can rebuild it, then spreads them across miners using a CRUSH placement algorithm so a lost node's shards can be rebuilt and re-placed. Its proof-of-storage scheme, Ziggy, has validators challenge miners periodically; miners answer with cryptographic proofs that can be checked without transferring file contents. Registration and settlement are recorded on a purpose-built Substrate chain using BABE block production, with miner registration, shard placement and rewards all on-chain. The product line covers IPFS pinning, S3 object storage, an end-to-end encrypted Drive and Hub, a model registry. In August 2026 it launched an alpha-to-hAlpha bridge and moved miner reward settlement onto its own chain.
Listing: Kraken opened SN75 spot trading on July 14, giving the subnet token a new fiat and stablecoin on-ramp.
Progress: Hippius brought its own-chain mainnet bridge live as phase one of Alphanomics, routing alpha emissions against measured usage and moving miner payouts and referral commissions to on-chain hAlpha settlement. It also launched AMD SEV-SNP confidential compute across VMs, managed PostgreSQL, Kubernetes and GitHub Actions runners.
Hippius launched the Hippius Bridge (Alphanomics Phase One) in 2026, settling miner rewards on the Hippius chain and migrating its storage layer from IPFS to the in-house Arion storage engine. The network adopted a usage-based emission mechanism with burns, aligning token economics more closely with actual compute consumption.
Future strategy and roadmap: Hippius plans to keep expanding around the Arion storage engine and decentralized compute marketplace, deepen its usage-based incentive model, and advance product integrations for decentralized AI and storage use cases.
