About Hana
Hana is a Layer-1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK, positioning itself as a 'hypercasual finance' platform with social network effects. Its core business revolves around Hana Gateway, an on/off-ramp solution that allows users to exchange fiat for crypto assets like BTC, ETH, and USDC without requiring KYC, using zero-knowledge proofs to balance compliance and privacy. The platform also supports P2P trading, social tipping, and gamified task systems, all embedded directly into social platforms like Twitter, Telegram, and TikTok.
Its main narrative is 'Web4 hypercasual finance,' which simplifies traditional DeFi operations into casual, social interactions. Instead of navigating complex interfaces, users can perform financial actions—such as transfers, tips, or earning points through tasks—directly within social apps. This approach aims to lower the barrier for mainstream adoption by reducing cognitive load and leveraging social distribution.
The market pain point Hana addresses is the friction in current crypto onboarding: centralized exchanges require KYC and trust, while DeFi platforms are too technical for average users. Hana's solution combines the ease of Web2 social apps with the self-custody benefits of Web3, allowing users to manage assets without long-term custody by third parties.
In the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-31), Hana launched its mainnet Phase 1 in October 2024, which included the Hanafuda game and task ecosystem. Since then, it has focused on expanding its social integrations, particularly with Telegram and Discord, and has been testing regional strategies in Asian markets. However, the project has faced challenges: the hypercasual model's user retention is unproven, and the reliance on social platforms' APIs poses a risk if those platforms restrict access. Additionally, the lack of KYC may attract regulatory scrutiny in certain jurisdictions, and the platform's security depends heavily on the robustness of its smart contracts and TSS (threshold signature scheme) implementation.
Kohei Hanasaka is the founder and CEO of Hana Network. He is a Japanese entrepreneur recognized for pioneering hyper-casual finance, aiming to bridge crypto with everyday life through social platforms. His background includes participation in Binance Labs incubation and ETH Global's zkDay, where Hana Network was a runner-up. He leads the project from Dubai, focusing on user-driven distribution via Web2 social channels.
