About Fortytwo
Fortytwo is a decentralised AI inference network deployed on Monad whose core mechanism is swarm inference: several open models generate answers in parallel, review one another, and a reputation-weighted vote produces the final output. Nodes can run on consumer hardware, and the network exposes an OpenAI-compatible inference service alongside an enterprise on-premise edition and an agent-facing access layer. It targets single-model hallucination and bias, data-egress risk at closed APIs and unpredictable per-token billing, trading multi-model cross-checking for output stability while pushing inference cost onto distributed nodes.
Releases during 2026 included an escrow extension for per-token billing, a new generation of open models and an enterprise deployment option, with one code model ranking first on Rust-related benchmarks. The site reports about 407 active nodes and 6,356 inferences in 24 hours, still an early-stage network; the gap between inference volume and real paid demand needs longer observation, and whether node rewards cover hardware and power costs remains to be established.
Fortytwo advanced its decentralized AI inference network through 2026: relay nodes went live to connect and scale inference nodes, it open-sourced x402Escrow ( an escrow extension of the x402 payment protocol enabling pay-per-token billing ) on April 2, and released Strand-Rust-Coder-14B, the first small model trained by its swarm and ranked #1 on the RustEvo2 benchmark.
Its flagship Fortytwo Prime received a Swarm Inference efficiency upgrade in April, the Qwen3.8-27B model launched via an OpenAI-compatible API, and the team published research on Swarm Inference with peer-ranked consensus.
Future strategy and roadmap: Looking ahead, Fortytwo will grow its node network and model lineup, open-source more swarm-generated datasets and specialized models, and strengthen high-reliability, prompt-injection-resistant inference for AI agents.
