About Forward Industries
Forward Industries is a Solana-focused treasury company. Its core business is straightforward: it holds a large amount of SOL tokens on its balance sheet, stakes most of them to earn yield, and issues a liquid staking token called fwdSOL. It also invests in and provides liquidity to early-stage Solana ecosystem projects.
The company's main appeal is scale. It claims to hold the largest Solana treasury among publicly traded companies, with over 7.5 million SOL as of mid-2026. By staking nearly all of its holdings, it generates additional SOL income, which it aims to grow on a per-share basis over time. This creates a narrative similar to a 'Berkshire Hathaway of Solana'—a vehicle for traditional investors to gain exposure to Solana's growth without directly managing tokens or infrastructure.
The problem it solves is access. Many institutional or retail investors find it cumbersome to buy, custody, and stake SOL themselves. Forward offers a publicly traded, regulated alternative that handles these operational details. It also borrows against its staked SOL at a lower interest rate than its staking yield, creating a positive carry that further boosts returns.
In the past six months (February to August 2026), Forward continued to accumulate SOL through open market purchases and staking rewards. Its treasury grew from roughly 7.0 million to 7.8 million SOL. It was added to the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 indices in late June, which typically increases visibility and passive fund buying. In July, it announced a letter of intent to acquire another Solana-focused company, signaling consolidation ambitions.
However, the company reported a significant GAAP net loss of $69 million for the fiscal third quarter, driven by a $49.8 million impairment on its digital assets due to SOL price declines. Management argues that investors should focus on operational metrics like SOL per share rather than accounting losses, but the volatility remains a real risk for shareholders.
Forward Industries' Solana treasury strategy has evolved through several pivotal milestones. The company first accumulated over 6.9 million SOL, establishing itself as the largest Solana treasury company among publicly traded firms. It subsequently launched fwdSOL, a liquid staking token, marking its entry into DeFi infrastructure. The deployment of 1.727 million SOL (approximately $219 million) to Coinbase Prime demonstrated institutional-grade custody and liquidity management. A significant strategic move was the launch of BisonFi, its proprietary AMM platform, which extended the company's influence into Solana's trading ecosystem. The board approved a new $1 billion stock repurchase plan, signaling confidence in long-term value creation. The company also pursued inorganic growth by seeking to acquire a smaller SOL treasury company. Despite a 319% year-on-year revenue increase, SOL holdings impairment led to an expanded quarterly loss, highlighting the volatility inherent in treasury strategies. The repurchase of approximately $27.4 million of its own stock via a Galaxy loan further optimized capital structure. These milestones collectively transformed Forward Industries from a traditional design company into a diversified Solana treasury operator, integrating asset accumulation, staking, DeFi innovation, and capital markets activities.
Forward Industries reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $10.8M (up 4x YoY), driven by staking and treasury income. Net loss widened to $69.0M ($0.80/share) due to $49.8M loss on digital assets and $15.2M impairment. The company held 7.55M SOL, with SOL per share up 9% sequentially. Despite revenue growth, the heavy non-cash digital asset charges and continued volatility pose risks, though the treasury strategy and staking rewards show operational progress.
