About x402scan
x402scan is an on-chain explorer and dashboard for the x402 payment protocol, built by Merit Systems and covering Base and Solana: it indexes settlements made through the HTTP 402 status code and aggregates counts, amounts and unit prices by server, buyer and facilitator. Coinbase proposed the protocol in May 2025, paying with a dollar stablecoin inside a single request.
It targets AI agents paying per call without observability or reconciliation, where neither merchants nor buyers can verify real settlement. On 14 July 2026 the protocol foundation began operating under the Linux Foundation with forty members including payment and cloud providers, and by July the explorer showed 52.4 million dollars settled across more than 195 million transactions. In March 2026 the SDK disclosed a facilitator payment-verification bypass that required an upgrade.
x402scan tracked continued growth of the x402 payment protocol in 2026: the spec advanced to v1.2 and the @x402/js-client SDK shipped v2.1.0 in Aug 2026.
x402scan data shows x402 has processed ~75.41M transactions, with ~$24.24M payment volume over the last 30 days.
The forward strategy for x402scan is to be the observability gateway for the x402 payment network, with plans to add more chains and settlement assets and launch a developer analytics API.
